Because of our society’s obsession with thinness, losing weight is a chief worry for many individuals, mainly women. Sometimes it’s an obsession that goes too far. Numerous women with perfectly normal body weight consider themselves overweight, and this applies to young girls as well. It’s very sad to see girls as young as eleven or twelve anxiously watching their weight. Over time, for lots of of us, it’s just too much pressure.

Perhaps the economy is not that great but its been a bountiful year with many of us having weight loss surgery, going on diets and working on improving our health in general. Many of us planted gardens in the spring or early summer. Tending those gardens is getting us outdoors, giving us a bit of exercise and best of all those gardens are starting to produce a bounty of vegetables. With many years of experience in bodybuilding, I have regularly and quite confidently told my girlfriend how she should exercise and diet to improve her figure in the fastest time possible. She would always consider my advice, then do her own thing, whether it be slimming world, low carb diets, or cardio training in the local sports centres. She would always lose 2-3 pounds per week for the first 2-3 weeks, then plateau for the next 4-6 weeks, get bored and just give up.

Let me start with the fact that diets just don’t work at all for long-term weight loss. Do you know that the main reason why diets don’t work is because they take you out of your comfort zone? It’s because diets say things like “Put down the cheeseburgers and fries and start eating rice all day.” But as you may know, now the all new popular rice diets may work just great while you’re on it but how long can you just eat just rice cakes.

The market is currently flooded with pills, shakes and all other kinds of ways to help you lose weight but are these considered a safe weight loss method? Fad diets make up one of the largest product launch groups.
